GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : il generale tessuto musicale della colonna sonora si basa sulle sonorità elettroniche dai sintetizzatori e su percussioni piuttosto intense. Cipriani tuttavia non rinuncia all'utilizzazione di normali strumenti quali il basso, il sassofono e la batteria. Le atmosfere sonore sono molto cupe visto che devono riflettere le varie carneficine che le persone contaminate dalle radiazioni atomiche compiono. I ritmi sono quasi sempre frenetici, concitati, ossessivi. E' il caso di "Metropolis" (a2) con sonorità di tastiere, basso e percussioni che non concedono pause quiete all'ascoltatore. Un clima musicale nevrotico si trova in "Incubo" (a4) con sintetizzatore e percussioni dalla ritmica veloce. Grace Jones canta "I’ll Find My Way To You" (b1). Si tratta di una ballata disco sostenuta da buone percussività e con un'ottima e intensa timbrica vocale che rendono la canzone non molto distante dalla musica soul. In realtà la cantante Giamaicana aveva già inciso questo brano nel 1976 per il film di Massimo Dallamano "Quelli della Calibro 38" ma in una versione diversa e più lunga rispetto a questa. Un forte stato di tensione è riflesso in "Una Notte Pericolosa" (b2) dove le pulsazioni del basso vengono ben supportate da sintetizzatore e percussioni. Si può anche ballare con "Masquerade" (b5) con sassofono e tastiere che danno vita a un ritmo celere accompagnate da basso e batteria così come in "Sustain" (a5) ancora con gli strumenti appena citati ma con un andamento leggermente più blando.

Notes : the overall texture of the soundtrack is based on electronic music performed by synthesizers and percussion with rather intense sounds. Cipriani, however, does not renounce the use of standard instruments such as the bass, saxophone and drums. The sound atmospheres are deeply dark since they have to reflect the various slaughters made by contaminated persons with atomic radiations. The rhythms are almost always frantic, excited, obsessing. It is the case of "Metropolis" (a2) with sonorities of keyboards, bass and drums which do not allow any quiet breaks to the listener. A music neurotic climate is in "Incubo" (a4) with the fast-paced music of the synthesizer and percussion. Grace Jones sings "I'll Find My Way To You" (b1). It is a disco ballad supported by good percussiveness and with a great and very intense vocal timbre that makes the song not far from soul music. Actually the Jamaican singer had already recorded this piece in 1976 for the film by Massimo Dallamano "Quelli della Calibro 38" but in a different and longer version than this. A deep state of tension is reflected in "Una Notte Pericolosa" (b2) where the pulsating bass is well supported by the synthesizer and percussion. You can also dance with "Masquerade" (b5) with sax and keyboards that give life to a fast rhythm accompanied by bass and drums as well as in "Sustain" (a5) still with the just mentioned instruments, but with a slightly milder development.
