Description
Fantastic LP release from Stephen C. Rose, Bill Horwitz and friends, A Stranger Named Peace, issued in 1978 by Persephone (PM 1032). LP and gatefold cover are in beautiful VG++ condition.
Ken Scott’s review in Archivist:
“Very impressive custom LP that for lack of a better term I’m going to call progressive folk. Stark yet beautiful arrangements using the simplicity of acoustic guitars to which are added mandolin, violin, recorder, marimba and phased organ. Several lengthy tracks: ‘Communion Song’ clocks in at 7:05 with a dreamy almost motionless magic akin to The Incredible String Band, whereas ‘Peter And Andrew’ features eight minutes of lazy strolling acoustic country twang. The remainder of the album follows a similar pattern, balancing meditative acoustic ballads with rootsy Grateful-Dead-meets-Dirt-Band country folk.”
