THIS is part of a collection of promo vinyl that I'll be listing over the next few months. It comes from a prominent 1990s NME journalist. 

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE STEREOLAB VINYL RARITY. It is the 12" white label test pressing of the debut Stereolab release, the Super 45 EP, manufactured in 1991 for Duophonic Super 45s. The finished EP was limited 10"only and never had a full commercial release; it was only available at gigs, mail order, Rough Trade Shops, and perhaps a small number of other specialist independent shops. It was never released as a 12". The press is the same as the 10" so there is 1" of blank wax around the playing surface of the record.

Both the A & B white labels are hand decorated by the band. The plain white sleeve has text hand written by the band (or its manager). The writing in green felt tip pen gives the track listing, catalogue number (DS45-01), and mail order address. 

THIS RARE PROMO HAS NEVER BEEN OFFERED FOR SALE ON DISCOGS BUT IT IS LISTED THERE. IT NOTES "THE MANAGER MARTIN HAS TWEETED THE NUMBER FOR EACH OF THE VERSIONS MADE... 15 COPIES OF 12" WHITE LABEL (NO SLEEVE OR GENERIC SLEEVE)" and "THE TEST PRESSINGS WERE SPLIT BETWEEN ME, LAETITIA, TIM AND A COUPLE OF FRIENDS". The former NME journalist I'm selling this for was one of those friends.

A NOTE ABOUT PROMO VINYL ITEMS: They were produced in small quantities by record companies in advance of release date for music business people like record company staff, journalists etc. They were each from a one-off copy run for the record label and were never on sale to the public. 

Everything I list is on a similar coloured background so that you know they are my own photos. 

I am the first and only owner of everything I list unless stated otherwise.

PACKAGING: Your item will be sent mailing envelope designed for 12" records with an additional cardboard stiffener. 

POSTAGE:
