STEVE DUNSTAN Magnetic Fields (Private) Australia 1979.

Here's an Ultra RARE!! Private Pressed AUSTRALIAN Late 70s Electronic LP by the 'Mysterious' Steve Dunstan. He was an early member of Aussie 60s Psych Rock groups the 18th Century Quartet and Levi Smith's Clefs, and likely some others! The Album starts off - Prog Rock/Electronica but gets more and more abstract with as it goes along, with Soundscapes/Noise/Jazzy Patches, and general Freak Out stuff!

Strongly Recommended if you're chasing something a bit different..Avant-garde - 'out there', this guy is a bit of a 'genius' to my mind, and i can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this one..unless they accidentally clicked on the wrong 'buy it now' button, and thought they were buying a Neil Diamond Lp..or something ;-)

Here's a snippet of info i 'dug up' on him, via the web - Around this time Ted Baarda attended a national intervarsity jazz convention in Sydney, where he met bassist, pianist, composer and "lovable eccentric" Steve Dunstan. Steve persuaded Ted to enter his original piece "Ghost Town" in the Original Tunes competition and it was declared the winner by judge Don Burrows. Dunstan went on to became a pioneer of electronic music in Australia -- he worked with Barry Conyngham, Keith Humble and Nicolas Lyon, and his piano piece "Svend's Tune" won the original tunes category at the Hobart Intervarsity Jazz Convention in 1968. In 1971 he contributed the opening sound collage for the classic Company Caine LP A Product Of A Broken Reality.

Dunstan disappeared in the mid-1980s, it's thought that he may have committed suicide, but his body has never been found, so his fate remains unknown.

The Cover is VG+ (see pics) the usual rubbing and shelfware you see, because of the dark sleeve design, looks better in the flesh, the Vinyl is EX, appears seldom if ever played, some hazing from the inner bag, there's some light static during some of the quieter sections.

Extremely difficult to find, don't miss!!
