Description
STIFF RECORDS – SINGLES BOX, VOL 1 (BUY1-10), issued in 1978.
Stiff Records was a maverick among British independent record labels, partially responsible for starting the punk and new wave revolution of the late '70s. Under the guidance of house producer Nick Lowe, Stiff turned out an enormous number of seminal punk and new wave singles in their first years, including first outings for artists as diverse as The Damned, Elvis Costello and Motorhead.
This box set features the first ten singles issued on the Stiff label (BUY1-10), each in its original sleeve, all housed in a black card box with a white Stiff Records logo on the lid and complete with a single-size insert with full track details and a description of each single. The ten singles are:-
BUY 1 Nick Lowe So It Goes / Heart Of The City
BUY 2 Pink Fairies Between The Lines / Spoiling For A Fight
BUY 3 Roogalator Cincinnati Fatback / All Aboard
BUY 4 Tyla Gang Styrofoam / Texas Chainsaw Massacre
BUY 5 Lew Lewis Boogie On The Street / Caravan Man
BUY 6 The Damned New Rose / Help
BUY 7 Richard Hell Blank Generation EP (Another World / Blank Generation / You Gotta Lose)
BUY 8 Plummet Airlines Silver Shirt / This Is The World
BUY 9 Motorhead Leavin’ Here / White Line Fever
BUY 10 The Damned Neat Neat Neat / Stab Yor Back / Singalongascabies
The box itself is in excellent condition, all the seams are intact, with only some minor creasing to the top and bottom. All of the single sleeves are in mint condition and the vinyl is all mint, and unplayed. The insert is in mint condition.
The box is compulsively listenable and provides a retrospective of the genesis of arguably the most important and influential British record label of the late 70's. A rare box set that will grace any 70's vinyl collection.
