SEVEN L.P. BOXED SET WITH BOOKLET

I must admit that although I am at ease and familiar with many 20th Century Avant-Garde composers such as Berio, Cage, Subotnik and Boulez, I find Stockhausen a closed book and in no way qualified to comment on this mammoth work. I'm not even sure about how the listener is intended to approach it - either in sections spread over whatever one is comfortable with or in one great 5½ hour lump. The potential buyer of this work will know exactly what to expect and how to approach it.

The records appear to be in mint condition and show no signs of play. All surfaces are in top unmarked condition with labels in pristine condition and showing no play marks around the spindle holes. Outer sleeves all excellent with no splits or tears and no inscriptions. Apart from a tiny rub to extreme top right hand upper tip of one sleeve and a tiny bump to the top corner tip of another, all are in top condition. The twenty page booklet supplied with the set [printed in German, French and English] is in excellent condition with all pages clean and undamaged and with no inscriptions. Staples seem to have rusted but I'm not sure exactly why as I can see no signs of damp anywhere. Records and booklet housed in outer card sleeve. This is in excellent condition with no splits. Some very minor rubbing to extreme tips of some of the corners and a couple of small edge chips but otherwise clean and unmarked. The box carries the catalogue number 2720 073 and the individual records are numbered 2561 295-301. Records pressed in Germany. I don't know whether this was ever pressed in the U.K. but I think that it was around this time that D.G. started pressing in the U.K. The German pressings were infinitely superior. Gradings of the records and sleeves are MINT- and the box is EX+. The booklet is graded as EX+. See following photos.

I normally audition all record offered for sale. However due to the length of this set, this was just not practical. All the records were sampled and no problems were noted. Sound clean and bright with no background or other extraneous noise and exactly what one would expect from a top quality Deutsche Grammophon recording. Equipment used was Garrard 301 / SME 3012 fitted with Shure V15 Mk.4 Micro Ridge cartridge feeding Quad II amps / 22 control unit. Speakers were KEF 105 Reference. A Michell Engineering Transcriptor Reference turntable was also used. This was fitted with a Mayware Formula 4 Mark III Uni-pivot arm, also fitted with Shure V15 Mk.4 and feeding same amp and speakers.

Postage charges are relatively high on this item due to the substantial weight [just under 2 Kilos before packing]. Within the U.K., the rate quoted is for first class post recorded delivery. This includes insurance up to £34. Second class post is not available on items of this weight. Enhanced insurance rates can also be quoted if applicable plus Royal Mail Special Delivery.
