"Stone"

A nice clean copy of this now very scarce psych / experimental rock soundtrack to the Aussie cult-biker film Stone.

Often referred to as simply a ‘killer soundtrack’ it obviously has a lot more substance to it than that ….think electronic sound effects, psychedelic guitars, cosmic sound scapes and funky bass-lines and the picture starts to take shape.

The album kicks off with a freakish blend of didgeridoo and Moog (played by Johnny 'Didge' Matthews and synth expert Andy Cohan) blended with unidentified clicks belches and pops which fly out the speakers creating an acid fuelled soundscape which is quickly embraced by a swampy psychedelic funk-rock rhythm section … magic stuff indeed !!

Billy Green's incredibly varied and ambitious compositions are pretty adventurous for 1974 as evidenced in combining synthesizers and didgeridoos on the opening sequence 'Eco Blue' to bombastic prog-rock themes with spiralling krautrock levels of cosmic intention and moments of Kottke/Fahey-esque desert blues…. there was simply nothing to compare it to and it still stands alone as one heck of an album.

Australian 1974 issue LP ....WARNER BROS  600 002..   Gatefold Cover has slight wear, rubbing wear, wrinkles  ..Vinyl is in a nice VG++(Excellent) condition, a rubber stamp side 2, some tiny label bubbles..nice and clean..
