J. STRAUSS / WEBER / BOSKOVSKY / VIENNA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA - " GRADUATION BALL / LE SPECTRE DE LA ROSE ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd (SXL 2250) Stereo, 1960.
Very rare 1960, first UK Stereo pressing of the very rare Decca LP with the all important grooved wideband Decca Label featuring the "Original Recording by..." label text - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been kept and will be included with this item).
NOTE: this record is one of a collection I have just bought from an ex-Decca employee. All the records in his collection were samples of records pressed by Decca in England or licenced by Decca to be pressed and sold in other countries around the world. Essentially, these LPs are quality control testers - by this, I do not mean pre-release promo test pressings, but normal commercial issues randomly selected by Decca to make sure their high standards were being kept up. Generally, these LPs have hardly been played... many have clearly had no more than a couple of quick test-plays. Even those which have clearly been used a bit more, have very well looked after and only ever played on a good quality, well set up turntable. Please read the condition description below for accurate details on the condition of this particular LP.
In the name of getting the auction going, I will start this item at just 99p.
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just the very lightest of spindle trails, etc. In normal daylight the vinyl appears perfectly clean, under a bright grading lamp I can make out a few very light paper scuffs just visible on the vinyl's surface - although none of these correspond directly to any audible defects. On playback, there is some very faint surface noise just audibile during the silent run-in before the beginning of the tracks and occasionally during the silent gaps between certain tracks. It plays strong and clean - free from interuption from distortion, clicks, pops, etc. Overall, although it is not quite mint, it's imperfections are very slight and would make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy it. I must also point out that this LP bears an "F-61"stamp on the label - see photo provided.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G.++ (No rips, tears, massive creases, defacing, etc. The front cover has some light wear and is quite 'yellowed', the rear is a similar story but a bit grubby all over too - see photos for further clarification
