Incense And Peppermints / The Birdman Of Alkatrash. Strong VG, labels have promotional stamps, small writing.
They were the biggest band in Glendale as the Sixpence, cutting a few local singles. Personnel changes and evolution (and a name change) brought them around to this single of which Alkatrash was supposed to be the a-side. Incense was originally written as an instrumental until producer Frank Slay had some songwriter friends put some lyrics together and ta-da, a number one hit.
But first, it was released locally on this tiny All-American label which circulated around the SoCal area before UNI came-a-callin'. A big LP and national tours followed and they would go on to release three more albums for UNI.
This has become one of those holy grail singles for collectors and copies in any condition are very rare. I've attached a soundclip so you can get a feel for the condition.
