Summer Lightning

Summer Lightning is a novel by P. G. Wodehouse, first published in the United States on 1 July 1929 by Doubleday, Doran, New York, under the title Fish Preferred, and in the United Kingdom on 19 July 1929 by Herbert Jenkins, London. It was serialised in The Pall Mall Magazine (UK) in 1929 and in Collier's in the US

In the plot Gally is down at Blandings and writing his memoirs, to the horror of all who knew him in their wild youths, particularly Lord Emsworth's neighbour and pig-fancying rival Sir Gregory Parsloe-Parsloe. While sinister forces, including the efficient Baxter and the unpleasant Percy Pilbeam, scheme to put a stop to the book, Ronnie Fish and his old pal Hugo Carmody are entangled in difficult relationships, which require much subterfuge, some pig-theft and a little imposter-ing to resolve.

About BBC Transcription Services.

BBC Transcription Services discs were only made available to overseas radio stations for broadcast purposes and were not made available for sale to the general public. However, in the early 90s many international BBC libraries sold their stock to the public.

Typically BBC Transcription Services pressed 100 copies of each disc only with instructions to the overseas radio network to destroy the disc at the end of the licence period.

At BresCollect our aim is to give honest grading of all our records. Due to the amount of stock we have to list though we mostly visually grade our vinyl. We will therefore not give a grade higher than VG+ to any record we have not listened to…even if it looks perfect! All our discs are cleaned before sending out.

Any disk that is graded Ex or higher will have been played before grading.

We use the following criteria for grading:

Mint (M) - The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

Excellent (Ex) - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good + (VG+) - The record has obviously been played but has only a few light surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable

Very Good (VG) - The record has obviously been played many times and has some visible surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable

Good (G) – The record has visible mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc

Postage is standard UK 2nd class small parcel at a cost of £3.50. Additional records are only charged at £1.00 extra for each ordered. All our vinyl records are posted in Lil packaging stiff 12″ LP record mailer....a seriously strong, secure & professional package. Records are removed from their cover before posting to avoid seam splits to the outer sleeve.

International orders will be posted through eBAY global shipping programme

Your order will be dispatched within 1 working day of receiving payment (Monday-Friday) and you should expect to receive it one or two days after dispatch (for orders sent RM 2nd Class).

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return the product and get a full refund or exchange. The buyer is responsible for the postage cost of the return unless the item proves to be faulty or that the description of the condition of the item is agreed to be incorrect.
