Description
For sale are three (3) Sun Ra vinyl releases including one of his releases with His Solar Arkestra (Alto, AL 701).
These releases from Sun Ra feature performances of some of his early work!
As an American jazz composer, bandleader, piano and synthesizer player, poet and philosopher known for his experimental music, "cosmic philosophy", prolific output, and theatrical performances Sun Ra was a prolific recording artist and frequent live performer who remained both influential and controversial throughout his life for his music and persona. He is now widely considered an innovator; among his distinctions are his pioneering work in free improvisation and modal jazz and his early use of electronic keyboards.
Some of these appear to be very early releases. Sun Song has the matrix SJW 9553 and does not have a bar code on the back. Super-Sonic Sounds is likely an early 1970s reissue of the 1957 release. Other Planes of There is possibly an older pressing but more than likely a reissue.

Each of these releases are collectors grade or very very near - see details below.
Discs play EX and shows very light play wear with mostly superficial needle marks with a couple of scuffs. There's some very light surface noise but it's noticeable mostly during quiet spots (light hiss and occasional very faint pops) though there's a light edge warp to Other Planes it does not affect play. Sun Song has a very light defect (manufacturer's defect perhaps, but shown in the last picture at the very edge of the groves) and produces very faint rotational hiss, there's very light crackle during quiet spots.
Jackets are EX with very minor corner and edge wear, some light storage wear to the covers.
