Label Number: B-711

ORIGINAL 1st USPRESS from 1965 – original SATURN RECORDS issue on RED COLORED LABEL with SILVER Lettering. Comes in textured plain sleeve and was handed out on early Sun Ra Concerts. Has hand written tape seal on jacket with title “Magic City” on it. ORIGINAL PLAIN SLEEVE 1st PRESS ISSUE. TOP COPY!!!!!

Comes with Calligraphy styled written "Saturn" in the dead wax next to the matrix number....later issues do not have this....

LP Record: Excellent ~ Near Mint with no defects or damages but pressed on cheap vinyl. TOP COPY

Textured Jacket: Near Mint

Some words on this issue: SUN RA & HIS SOLAR ARKESTRA: “Magic City” (Saturn – B-711) (Record: Excellent ~ Near Mint/ Jacket: Near Mint). First original “Magic City” issue on Saturn records – red colored label with silver lettering. First issue came out in a plain black textured jacket without any artwork as it was mainly handed out and sold at early concerts and gigs. That aside, it is an excellent 1965 side from Sun Ra and Arkestra, originally self-released on Saturn. The title track is an excellent ensemble improvisation with Ra on clavioline and piano and inspired solos from John Gilmore, Danny Davis, Pat Patrick, Marshall Allen and Harry Spencer. Three more tracks drawn from recording sessions at the Olatunji loft. This one was later issued again on Saturn and even on Impulse.

Mint: like new.
