SUN RA - TAKING A CHANCE ON CHANCES 

1977 El Saturn LP      772      Stereo         

This is the supposedly very limited and only pressing of this Sun Ra live material from a small club date in Chicago in 1977. 

The story is that the initial pressing run (of perhaps only 100 or 200 copies) suffered from a mastering defect on side 1 and was never repressed due to the resulting buzzy/distorted sound on the first two tracks. The sound improves on the final track of side 1 - and side 2 plays much better (although still pretty lo-fi). 

Comes in a printed paste-on picture cover. The hand-etched matrices are "772-A  BP" and "772 B". 

COVER - VG+   Heavy wear on the corners and bottom seam - and beginning to split at the opening corners (12mm on the top and 8mm on the bottom). Some horizontal creases across and near the spine. The white borders to the artwork are age-toned/soiled - with some brown stains particularly noticeable along the top border on the front (second picture). The back is much nicer (see first picture).

I will be liquidating a large part of my record collection over coming weeks - including some very nice "top end" and hard to find items in all genres - but particularly jazz, free jazz, soul jazz, bossa, dub, reggae and such like - please watch out for them................

GRADING SCALE:   M/NM/EX/VG/G(+/-) visual grading - only play tested if specifically indicated above. NM is near mint not mint - I do not use M except for an unplayed record.

PACKAGING:    Your record will be securely packaged, with the record (in its inner sleeve) outside the main cover to avoid damage to the cover. Records with non-stock inner sleeves will be placed in a separate plain inner sleeve to avoid damage to the original inner. 

I use custom box mailers, and card stiffeners for additional protection. No charge will be made for packaging. Recycled (but secure) packaging may be used where available.

Royal Mail's new and increasingly complex April 2013 pricing structure has significantly increased postage costs from the UK and significantly decreased compensation levels for lost or damaged items. 

As a result of the reduced compensation levels, I regret that ITEMS SELLING FOR MORE THAN £20 WILL ONLY BE SENT BY A SIGNED FOR OR TRACKED AND FULLY INSURED METHOD OF SHIPPING.
