SUN RA and his SOLAR ARKESTRA, ‘THE HELIOCENTRIC WORLDS OF SUN RA Vol. 1’ A 1965 UK FONTANA RECORDS FIRST ISSUE LP, Cat No, STL 5514.

 

  The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra, Volume One is a 1965 album by the jazz musician Sun Ra. The back cover describes it as an "album of compositions and arrangements by Sun Ra played by Sun Ra and his Solar Arkestra". The album is a notable example of the radical break which Sun Ra's music of that time had made with "previous notions of melody or harmony". Although heavily percussive, the music also dispenses with a continuous beat; instead Ra's music is reconstructed around "interweaving compositional and improvisatory creative principles with programmatic affects".

  Both record labels are in beautiful Mint Minus condition, bright, clean and unfaded record labels, showing a couple of plays to the centre of each record label.

  Both sides of this quality heavyweight vinyl LP are in pristine Mint Minus condition, beautiful, bright vinyl surfaces to both sides with just a couple of tiny hairlines.

 

  The LP plays perfect throughout all tracks.

  The LP is housed in its original glossy picture sleeve, the picture sleeve  is a superb example, clean and bright, and undamaged in Excellent Plus condition, no seam splits or creases, with just a couple of corner bumps and mild LP indentation.

 

    A superb example of this rare and obscure UK album release.
