They may be channeling Dylan's 'Bringing It All Back Home' on their sleeve, yet it seems Sunflower Bean's spiritual sonic home is equal parts the late-'80s and early-'90s. A rich confection of textured, chorus-soaked guitars, angelic vocal incandescence and breezy charm, 'Human Ceremony' is indie with a capital 'I'. Yet despite summoning the spectres of Lush, Galaxie 500 and Pale Saints, there's more to this band that mere yellowing-Melody-Maker Proustian rush . Indelible melody, steely attitude and a refreshing economy of sound make Sunflower Bean a band with both chops and charm enough to transcend retro trappings.
