This is an auction for a very rare pressing of Sunn O)))'s "The GrimmRobe Demos" triple LP picture disc set limited to 500 only available on the 2008 "Shoshin" tour, which included a measly 4 shows. Sunn O))) is an ambient black metal/doom band that formed in 1999 taking the name from their beloved brand of amplifiers, Sunn O))), a small independent family business that was ultimately acquired by Fender (also the choice of The Velvet Underground,The Who and Hendrix as well as The Melvins, and Mountain). The name was also chosen as a play on the name of the band Earth being that "Sunn O)))" revolved around "Earth", founders of drone music that have worked with Sunn O))) on several occasions. "The GrimmRobe Demos" is Sunn O)))'s first album and 2008 commemorates its 10th year which appropriated a tour consisting of Sunn O))) in a very basic form, characteristic of their early work, and also a repressing of the album that is the premier documentation of that work..."The GrimmRobe Demos". The album shows Sunn O))) focusing on the raw wall of power that is their signature sound and keeping it concise with only the core members contributing which has come to change considerably over the years with Sunn O))) being notorious for thier collaborations. This pressing is complete with almost all of the artwork and words from Seldon Hunt and Stephen O' Malley from the earlier release on the discs and housed in a very unique plastic sleeve that is held together by a printed banderole with album information including the words: "Edition of 500 sets exclusively for SUNN O)))s 10th annum tour of the United States of America (4 concerts only, in the most desperate cities)." Very unique item from package genius's Southern Lord and extremely limited at only 500 copies. It is as I bought it at the show, un-played, and in mint condition. Get it now, its only going up in price and this is Sunn O)))'s masterpiece and definitely one of the highlights of their career.
