SUNSET LOVE – Run To The Sun. Lion Production LION-LP-208 / Return To Analog International RTAI 028. FACTORY SEALED NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally recorded in 1968. This edition issued in 2025 with hype sticker (black vinyl, in case you were wondering). Remastered from the original mono mix. Limited edition of 300 numbered copies, this is #16 / 300. Numbers 001-150 are distributed by Lion Productions and numbers 151-300 are distributed by Return To Analog of Montreal, Canada.

DESCRIPTION:  Sunset Love was a quasi-mystical flower-power band from New Mexico who blended influences of The Mamas and Papas, Spanky And Our Gang and The Beatles to create a unique pop-psych sound.

Sunset Love were recruited in 1968 to record at Westex Studios in Odessa, Texas. Westex was the brainchild of Tommy Allsup (original member of Buddy Holly’s Crickets) and Gorman Maxwell (it was the same studio where Zager and Evans recorded their smash hit In The Year 2525). Allsup asked producer Buzz Cason (also a former member of The Crickets) to come from Nashville to work with Sunset Love. The resulting recording sessions yielded a total of sixteen songs, of which twelve were originals. Sunset Love singer and songwriter, Victor Kay Lindsey, says: “we thought we were going to be superstars; we had big plans, we were sure an album was going to be put out.”

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

NEW LP:  This item is new and unplayed, but was received from a supplier without being shrink wrapped or cellophane wrapped; more common on imports but also many of the smaller independent US labels do not seal their LPs. These items are placed inside of a clear poly outer sleeve upon their receipt by me

LTD EDT:  Limited, as in limited edition. If I know the press run number it will be included in the above description.

MIX:  This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.
