Description

This is an EXTREMELY RARE garage band recording of John-Paul and The Jones Boys, with one of the members being Steve Hunter, professional guitar player for the following: Alice Cooper, Mitch Ryder, Lou Reed, Aerosmith, Jack Bruce, Peter Gabriel, Julian Lennon, Tracy Chapman, Glen Campbell, Meatloaf, and David Lee Roth. Steve Hunter is also a Grammy Award winner, and an has been inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame.

Story behind this album:

In 1967, between the time he graduated high school and when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Steve and friends formed John-Paul and The Jones Boys. They were heavily influenced by Paul Revere & The Raiders.

During this short time, the band recorded these seven songs live in someone's garage. They then began searching for a label that would be willing to press a few LP's to sell at local gigs around town. While and exact number of LP's that were pressed is not know, according to Steve himself, few were pressed, and even fewer were ever sold. So few, in fact, Steve was very surprised to learn this one had turned up in the wild. It is quite possible another one of these may never show up, especially in this condition.

Shortly after retuning home from the war, a friend of Steve's was playing for Mitch Ryder, and hooked Steve up with an audition. This began Steve's professional career as a guitar player. That friend was John Sauter, bass guitar player for Bo Diddley, Otis Spann, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, Ted Nugent, and others. About the vinyl:

The vinyl is in a very clean VG condition. I'm grading it a VG because of minor light scuffing, minimal hairlines, a few "blotchy" spots, and the minor surface noise. I suspect much of the surface noise would disappear with the use of a mono cartridge. It was very difficult for me to make the minor imperfections show up in the photos. If you zoom in very close, you may be able to see some of them. I have also included a video with clips of a few songs on the album. eBay reviews all videos, so it may be a day or so before the video appears with the photos.

The LP's were ordered without a cover, only coming in an inner sleeve. I do not have the original sleeve.

For additional protection, the LP will ship with a copy of Detroit, the sole self-titled album by the rock band Detroit. Steve played guitar on this album. These will be sandwiched between cardboard inserts, packaged in a Whiplash LP mailer. The Whiplash mailer will then be packaged inside a shipping box containing additional packing materials for added protection during shipping. To minimize time in transit, the package will ship via Priority Mail Express via the USPS. Package will be insured for selling price. Signature at delivery will be required. Shipping is free. Items typically ship same or next business day.

While I make every effort to grade and describe the condition of vinyl and covers as accurately as possible, I also understand that grading can be extremely subjective. Because of this, I tend to grade on the conservative side. I'd rather sell an item for a little less than have an unsatisfied buyer. eBay allows users the ability to zoom in incredibly close up on photos of vinyl and covers. This allows potential buyers to see even very minor imperfections. I strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this feature, rather than relying on a sellers grading and description. All records will be shipped in protective inner and outer sleeves when possible. For added protection, all records are sandwiched between cardboard inserts and shipped in Whiplash LP Mailers. A "Fragile - Handle With Care" label affixed to each LP Mailer. All of this increases my shipping costs, but it helps ensure that the record arrives to you in the best possible condition.
