Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE!!! ADVANCED RELEASE WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL...

This is the PRE-RELEASE pressing, issued in January of 1969, of the very first Three Dog Night album, before they became superstars, but their first album clearly shows the writing on the wall, and is vastly underrated...many believe to be their best album, without the commercial fan-fare...

This PROMOTIONAL pressing did not contain any reference to the cut "One" on the front cover. Shortly after the album's release, that song became a big hit, and the label quickly altered the cover image to include that title on the front, in order to maximize sales. The album has subsequently been popularly known as "One" ever since.

The album is one of the lost classics of the sixties, where every song is a winner, with exception of maybe their take on "Try a Little Tenderness" which does echo Otis Redding's version a little too close, otherwise Three Dog Night make all the other covers their own. "Chest Fever (the Band)", "Heaven Is In Your Mind (Traffic)" these guys recreate these classics and reinvent them to fit their own vision; great singing, great playing, great interpretations.

Three Dog Night started in 1967, and stood out due to the fact that they had three dedicated lead singers - Chuck Negron, Danny Hutton and Cory Wells. They originally went by the name of Redwood, and made some early recordings with Brian Wilson. However they soon abandoned the Redwood name, and recruited four musicians as their backing band - guitarist Michael Allsup, keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon, bassist Joe Schermie and drummer Flyod Sneed. They managed to get noticed through their live shows in L.A., and were signed to Dunhill Records.

Their debut album came out in 1968. Rather than writing their own material, they pretty much relied on cover songs, but they managed to start and maintain a very successful career through these creative interpretations of other artists' material. Their first album featured songs by Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Traffic, Neil Young, The Band, Tim Hardin, Lennon & McCartney and others. It was only moderately successful at first, but the third single from the album, Nilsson's "One" (with Negron on lead vocals), became a massive hit as they were working on the follow-up. It eventually got to #5 on the singles chart. To capitalize on its popularily, the title "One" was quickly added under the group's name on the album cover. The album itself eventually got to #11 as the band's career took off.
