SUPERBAD by J.D. (The Roc)/LUCKY DIP by MONTEGO MELON

RARE EARLY REGGAE 45 ON UK SIOUX LABEL

I am auctioning this early reggae single, the A side is ‘Superbad’ by J.D. (The Roc) –‘JD’ being Jeff Dixon. The B side is ‘Lucky Dip’ by Montego Melon. I have been unable to discover who Montego Melon is/was.

This was issued on the UK based Sioux label in 1972, SI 008.

Difficult to grade this record, the vinyl playing surface is virtually mint and plays perfectly. Unfortunately as can be seen from the photo, the label is damaged to both sides.

Not original sleeve.

I am not a dealer and am simply disposing of a few records from my collection. They have been ‘test played’ on a Technics SL-1210 Mk2 deck fitted with a Pickering TL4S cartridge and then graded to the best of my ability.

In my experience there is almost always an element of surface or background sound with vinyl, even when new – hard to see how there could not be when two solid surfaces come into contact with each other and are then amplified. Anybody who claims there is no surface sound, or ‘silence’, is deluding themselves. Almost all used vinyl has at the very least light surface scratches.

I have a few other records listed and am happy to combine postage if this is beneficial.

Please note that I do not charge for packaging material or any other post and packing “extras”.  I simply ask for the amount Royal Mail charges me. If I inadvertently overcharge, any excess will immediately be refunded to your PayPal account.
