FROM ME TO YOU/THANK YOU GIRL (VeeJay 522 1st pressing, 1963): Clean VG.
Many sellers would grade this record, The Beatles' 2nd U.S. single, VG+; it has few scuffs on the vinyl and absolutely clean labels with only a hint of wear. But we play-graded it, and it's got a little groove wear that affects the sound a bit, so we grade it an honest VG. It looks terrific (see photos)! This is a single with a book value in the $750 range on the rare occasion that a M- example can be found. Unless you're willing to wait around for the seldom-seen pristine copy to come up, and then bid against other fanatics for it, this one will fill that space in your collection admirably.
VJ 522 is the Rodney Dangerfield of early U.S. Beatles 45s: it gets no respect. VJ 498, the 1st American Beatles single, is highly-sought after; collectors love the original release with the group name misspelled Beattles, and corrected-spelling 498s are just as tough (maybe even rarer). The original Swan white label issue of She Loves You, from the fall of '63, is also very scarce, and counterfeits abound. But VeeJay #522, From Me To You/Thank You Girl, is just as rare as the other two, but doesn't command the prices that VeeJay 498 does. That's what it gets for being 2nd.
All three 1963 Beatles singles bombed miserably. The two VJ 45s were such losers that even though the Chicago label didn't have any skin in the game, it passed on their third single (She Loves You), and Brian Epstein ran all over New York trying to find somebody else to release it (without success, of course). He finally got tiny Swan in Philly to give it a shot.
