SURFINK! 33-1/3 LP RECORD ALBUM (VERY RARE) + MODEL KIT
Search
This rare and a cult-classic album's tunes were performed by the Capitol Records recording group, "Mr. Gasser and the Weirdos" - with none other than - Ed "Big Daddy" Roth helping to write some of the lyrics. "Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth", whose monster character "Rat Fink" made him a hit with kids in the 1960's through his model car and monster kits and t-shirts, designed the album cover. This album was released in June of 1964.
This is an original copy-not a reproduction! Cover of album has the word "PROMO" stamped into the upper right-hand corner. The album cover is in very good conditionwith a very presentable graphic of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's 'Surfink"(house flies and all) riding his surfboard on top of a wave.
The 33-1/3 rpm LP record has a BONUS 45rpm record single attached to the front side of the cover that HAS NEVER BEEN REMOVED! The 7" 45 rpm single is recorded by the "Superstocks". The only title on the label is "Santa Barbara The Super Stocks", a music group of that era who was signed to a recording contract by Capitol Records.
The back cover has all the information to create your own "Ratfink Fan Club Franchise". Also included are 3 copies of the "Ratfink All American Fan Club" Official Membership Card.
Produced by Capitol Records, this album features the voices of "Mr. Gasser and the Weirdos". The songs on this fantastic surfing album include: Surfink; Well,I'm Goin'; Surfer Ghoul; Doin' the Surfink; Little Finks Surfs Again; Phantom Surfer; There's a Dog-Gone Ding in my Ding-Dong Board; Big Bad Surfink; Surfink Blues; and Finksville, USA.
A couple of notable artists on the album are David Gates (of Bread fame) and Gary Usher. Songs were recorded by studio artists.
This LP vinyl record is in excellent shape with no apparent scratches! The cardboard jacket is slightly scuffed, with light marks, and a 3" seam split in the middle. Please look at the pictures carefully. They can be enlarged. The inner sleeve shows pictures of some of the albums currently on sale at the time: Frank Sinatra, The Lettermen, Bobby Darin, Jackie Gleason, and The Beach Boys.
The album was one apparently owned and/or played on the radio by station WECL of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
ALSO INCLUDED is Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's model kit of "Surfink" by Revell. This is the re-issue kit made in 1990. Colorful graphics on the cover shows Surfink ridin' a wave with a crazy crab hitchin' a ride. As always with the "Fink" crew, there are a few flies buzzin' around.
Box is in great shape except where the cellophane is torn at one of the side corners.
This record is very rare and exceptionally so when the bonus 45 record has not been opened-much less removed! Together the Surfink LP and Model Kit would make a standout addition to display team with your Rat Fink Collectibles collection!
