Description
This combo offering is a rare and out of print original US copy of the Surfink! LP featuring Mr. Gasser and the Weirdos. It was recorded in 1964 on Capitol records T2114 and includes the free 7" promo 45rpm single with 2 songs by The Super Stocks - "Santa Barbara" and "Midnight Run". The 45rpm is clearly marked as a bonus to be included with the SURFINK! album. This pressing also has the very early record label error - if you look closely at the LP label, you'll see that they mis-named the group as "Mr. Weirdo and the Gassers"!
Ed "Big Daddy" Roth became well-known in the late 1950's and the 1960's for his creation of custom hot-rods ("Beatnik Bandit") and many hot-rod related characters - Rat Fink, Drag Nut, and Mother's Worry among them. His idea to create surf / hotrod rock albums was produced by Gary Usher, who rounded up musicians from bands of the day.
I have no experience with records and have no turntable to play them, so as far as condition goes I can only report what I see. I have photographed each side of the album cover, and the narrow sides. The corners are bumped, with some splits on the sides. There is a tear on the smaller sleeve that is attached to hold the 45rpm. The 78rpm record has some scratches on each side and the 45rpm has no scratches that I can see. Please examine the photos and ask questions, as it is being sold as is with no returns.
