From 1976, out of Illinois, comes Surprise with their LP Assault On Merryland on Carousel Records private. Rare private press prog album from southern Illinois that was recorded in St. Louis. The week-long recording session and resulting album was a father's gift to his son in celebration of the son's eighteenth birthday.Eleven tracks of great prog relating a story. The story was of a queen who had promised her daughter to a prince, however, the daughter fell in love with a commoner instead. She ran away with her beloved and the queen found them and banished sunlight from the land they escaped to. All ended well, with sunshine returning and the princess spending eternity with her beloved. Fantastic fantasy art cover with dragons, large winged colorful butterflies, hillsides oozing rainbows, and vegetation and insects forming the groups' name!There is a lot more to this cover! Instruments used are: electric guitars, bass guitar,acoustic guitar, hammond organ,grand piano,mini moog,moog taurus,arp string ensemble,celeste,drums,tympani,bells,gongs,triangle,flute,trumpet,piccolo, gyro,and of course,vocals!
