Rossini A Mademoiselle Louise Carlier - Mars 1835 - Suzanne Danco , Soprano - / Ester Orel , Mezzo-Sorpano Francesco Molinari-Pradelli , Piano first and exclusive Edition - Discovery : In March 1835 Rossini made a gesture as distinguished as it was gallant: he presented Mademoiselle Louise Carlier ( after her subsequent marriage Madame Benazet ) , the dauther of a well-known Parisian impresario , with an album containing a number of melodies, all in written by celebrated comtemporary composers. The titel page bore the following dedication in elegant decorative letters: Album de Musique, offert par G. Rossini á Mademoiselle Louise Carlier, Mars 1835.
Contents : The Album calls to mind an anthology of poetry, an anthology of poetry interpreted in terms of music. Rossini himself, as well as composers like Cherubini , Bellini , and Meyerbeer - seventeen of the altogehter - contribueted songs to romantic love ballads in which the pangs of love were certainly not forgotten. Rossini´s present was fully in keeping with the courteous conventions fo this galant epoch.
