This is a RARE-SCARCE double vinyl (2 LP) album in excellent used condition. Swan Lake Opus 20 Ballet in 4 Acts. This would make an excellent addition to any classical, romantic music enthusiast's collection. Included in this set is a pamphlet/brochure printed by Urania Records. Here is an excerpt of the brochure written by Peter Hugh Reed: "More than one famous composer has written a work because of a need for ready cash rather than from a self-motivated creative impulse, which work, for various reasons, he underestimated or belittled, never dreaming that it would later receive just acclaim. Such a composition was Tchaikovsky's first ballet, Le Lac des Cygnes (The Swan Lake). In a letter to Rimsky-Korsakov, written in September, 1875, Tchaikovsky confessed -- after having composed the first two of the four acts of his ballet in two weeks -- that he accepted the work partly because he needed the money and partly because he had long cherished a desire to try his hand "at this type of music". From his youth he had been fond of ballet, especially that of the French..."
