some may think this is an extreme and obsessive auction listing, but it's befitting of one of the most extreme and obsessive bands ever. these EPs and LPs are all from my personal collection amassed during the mid-to-late 80s. many of them are first pressings. I doubt you will see another auction like this again. the only official releases this auction lacks from SWANS' most classic period (1982-1986) are the "time is money" and "a screw" 12 inches.

DO NOT ASK ME TO SPLIT UP THE COLLECTION. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.

if you need just one of these to complete your collection, and you would gladly pay $200 for that one alone but not $500 for the entire set, well, I'm sorry. this isn't your week. don't beg, it's unseemly and michael gira would never condone such behavior. if my auction closes with 0 bids, ah well. it wasn't meant to happen. I'll just keep these wretched material chains of the mortal coil a while longer.

some of these are in rough condition but it's mainly cosmetic. the vinyl itself ranges from very good to mint; most have dust, fingerprints, or mild scuffs, and nothing you couldn't get off by buffing with a soft cloth and cleaner. if there is any significant damage to a cover or vinyl I have highlighted it in a photograph or called it out in the listing below. these records, they have been loved. on then, to the excruciating details (thanks to Ayse whose discography I have borrowed facts and figures from, in italics):

the last auction for this EP closed at $184. understandable, when you consider that this was reissued in 1990 with what is, frankly, a very poor remix. so obtaining the original vinyl is the only way to hear this EP the way it was meant to be heard. it's one of the best things SWANS ever did, but not a lot of people share that opinion because they've only listened to the poor mix on the reissue.

vinyl: excellent, some smudges and fingerprints but plays perfectly
cover: good, minor ringwear, very small scrape/tear on the back cover

some versions of the songs on this LP never made it to the Greed/Holy Money CD reissue on Young God records, so the only place you can find them are on this release, or the very rare CD release of this album. can't remember what those tracks are at the moment, unfortunately.

Reflex Magazine

if you don't know what a flexidisc is, kid... go ask yer pa. most likely the rarest thing here, and I stumbled across it while taking pictures for this auction - completely forgot I had it! originally included as an insert with the feb 1988 issue of reflex magazine, it is an acoustic version of "new mind".

This version of "New Mind" is similar to the "purple version" on the black LOVE WILL TEAR US APART 12" (which is equivalent to the "acoustic version" on VARIOUS FAILURES).  However, according to Jarboe, it is a slightly different mix that is unavailable anywhere else. It was recorded in December, 1987 at Fun City Studio.

vinyl: overall very good, light scuffs and scratches, with one deep scratch on first 3 songs on side C, this is the worst vinyl defect in the whole lot, causes audible pops and an occasional skip

2' X 3' black and white poster from Feel Good Now

for some reason I have the poster that came with the feel good now double LP, but not the double LP itself. poster was hung and has pinholes in all 4 corners. I'll throw this in so you don't bore a hole in the wall by staring at it while listening to these albums alone in your room. I fear for your safety.
