Description
On offer here is a VERY rare LP (especially in this condition!!!!) by The Swinging Blue Jeans called "Blue Jeans A' Swinging" and is an ORIGINAL 1964 UK 1st Pressing on the 1st Press UK EXPORT Odeon label!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!! IN FACT, ITS ONE OF THE ALL TIME RAREST LPs YOU WILL EVER SEE!!!! EVEN DOMESTIC STANDARD UK MONO 1ST PRESSINGS OF THIS LP ARE TRULY HARD TO FIND - BUT FINDING AN ULTRA RARE UK STEREO ODEON EXPORT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!!!! JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!! BACK IN 1964 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS (LESS THAN 100 COPIES AS A UK STEREO EXPORT!), AND WAS IMMEDIATELY DELETED FOREVER!!!! AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO LOCATE TODAY!!!! BUT WHAT MAKES THIS LP EVEN RARER STILL - IS THAT IT IS A 100% GENIUNE UK ODEON EXPORT 1ST PRESSING - AND ONLY EVER PRESSED IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS (AROUND 100 COPIES ONLY!) FOR EXPORT ONLY!!!! AND THIS IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ON THIS LP!!!! MOST PEOPLE ARE QUITE 'BLINKERED' WHEN IT COMES TO ODEON EXPORTS - SOME PEOPLE ARE EVEN UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' WAS THE ONLY LP EVER TO BE RELEASED AS A ODEON EXPORT!!!! YET NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!!! EMI HAD ACTUALLY STARTING MAKING UK ODEON EXPORTs WAY BACK IN THE 1950s - WHEN IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO COME ACROSS A CLASSICAL OR EASY LISTENING 10" LP ON A BLACK & GOLD UK ODEON EXPORT!!!! I HAVE EVEN SEEN A 'MARY POPPINS' UK SOUNDTRACK ON ODEON EXPORT - AND INDEED, WAY BACK IN 2005 I ACTUALLY SOLD A MANFRED MANN 'FIVE FACES OF MANFRED MANN' AS AN 'ODEON EXPORT'!!!! SO ALTHOUGH UK ODEON EXPORTS ARE FAR FROM COMMON - THEY CERTAINLY DO EXIST ON MANY MORE LPs THAN THE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE'!!!! AND INTERESTINGLY - MOST OF THEM FROM THIS 1964 PERIOD (MARY POPPINS, MANFRED MANN & THIS LP) RELATE TO THE 'HMV' LABEL - WHICH SUGGESTS THAT THIS LABEL WAS THE 'PROBLEM' LABEL FOR EMI, WHICH HAD NOT BEEN LICENSED IN SOME COUNTRIES - CAUSING EXPORT LPS TO BE MADE!!!! HOWEVER - DESPITE THERE EXTREME RARITY, THERE IS 1 SECRET ABOUT ALL THESE ODEON EXPORTS, THAT MANY PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW!!!!
I WILL EXPLAIN!!!! NO DOUBT MANY PEOPLE HAVE SEEN THE HUGE PRICES THAT THE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' LPs FETCH AS ODEON EXPORTS - THE MOST RECENT ONES FETCHING OVER £3000(!). HOWEVER - MANY PEOPLE WOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN WONDERING WHY THEY HAD SUCH HIGH MOTHER & STAMPER CODES - AND IT IS ONLY A HUGE SELLING LP (LIKE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE') WHICH GIVES US THIS IMPORTANT CLUE!!!! BECAUSE ACTUALLY THE TRUTH IS - THAT EMI HUGELY CUT COSTS ON THESE 'UK ODEON EXPORTS'!!!! DUE TO THERE SERIOUSLY LOW DEMAND (USUALLY 100 COPIES AT THE VERY MOST - OR IN THE CASE OF A LARGER SELLING LP LIKE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' AROUND 500 COPIES) - EMI SIMPLY COULDNT AFFORD TO 'SET UP' A SEPARATE 'RUN' AS IT WASNT ECONOMICALLY VIABLE!!!! SO - AS MANY PEOPLE ALREADY KNOW, THEY SAVED MONEY BY SIMPLY STICKING 'ODEON' GOLD STICKERS OVER THE STANDARD UK COMPANY NAME ON THE COVERS (RATHER THAN PRINTING A COMPLETELY SEPARATE COVER!)!!!! IN THIS CASE - IT WAS HMV, SO EMI HAD SOME MASSIVE 'GOLD' ODEON STICKERS MADE (SEE PICTURES) AND SIMPLY STUCK THEM OVER THE 'HMV' LOGO ON THE COVER!!!! AND YET WHAT PEOPLE DONT KNOW - IS THAT THEY DID EXACTLY THE SAME WITH THE RECORDS!!!! AND I ONLY REALISED THIS - WHEN A FRIEND OF MINE HAD AN ODEON 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' THAT IS SLIGHTLY MISPRINTED (WITH THE APPLE LABEL STICKING OUT UNDERNEATH!)!!!! THEN A YEAR OR SO LATER - I GOT TALKING TO AN EX EMI EMPLOYEE - WHO WAS THE LABEL TYPESETTER FOR EMI IN THE 1960s!!!! AND HE MADE 1 VERY IMPORTANT POINT!!!! HE STATED 'WHY DO YOU THINK THERE IS SUCH A MASSIVE BORDER ON ALL ODEON EXPORT LABELS?' - AND THE ANSWER IS SELF EXPLANATORY!!!! TO COVER UP EXISTING LABELS!!!! AND IT WAS TRUE!!!! FOR IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO MEASURE THE WRITING ON THE LABELS - ITS EXACTLY THE SAME AS ANY NORMAL EMI LABEL (PARLOPHONE/HMV/COLUMBIA) - AND YET THE BLACK BORDER EDGE IS MILES LARGER!!!! AND THEN AFTER THIS - I TOOK A GOOD LOOK AT PREVIOUS UK ODEON SALES - AND THERE IT WAS!!!! A BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' WITH THE APPLE LABEL CLEARLY VISIBLE UNDERNEATH THE 'OVERSTUCK' UK EXPORT ODEON LABELS!!!! AND IN FACT - IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE - FOR WHY WOULD EMI MAKE UP STICKERS FOR COVERS - IF THEY DIDNT DO THE SAME FOR THE RECORDS? THEY NEVER KNEW FROM 1 DAY TO THE NEXT - WHAT THE REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPORT WOULD EVER BE, SO THEY COULD NEVER PRESS A WHOLE BATCH, BECAUSE THEY WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SELL THEM!!!! THEREFORE - WHEN DEMAND AROSE, IT WAS FAR MORE EASY TO SIMPLY TAKE SOME STOCK COPIES - OVER STICK THE COVER & LABELS, AND SEND THEM STRAIGHT OUT!!!! WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED!!!! AND THIS EXPLAINS ALSO - WHY BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' EXPORTS ALWAYS HAVE HIGH MOTHER & STAMPERS - FOR THEY ARE SIMPLY STANDARD STOCK COPIES WITH OVERSTUCK LABELS & COVERS - AND RANDOMLY TAKEN FOR EXPORT TO OTHER COUNTRIES (WHOSE RELEASE DATES WERE NATURALLY LATER THAN THE UKs)!!!! HOWEVER THIS LP IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO THE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' - AND THAT IS THAT IT IS 100 TIMES RARER!!!!
AND I WILL EXPLAIN WHY!!!! UNLIKE THE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' THIS LP WAS A TERRIBLE SELLER IN THE UK. EVEN IN MONO (WHERE IT IS FAR MORE COMMON) IT IS TREMENDOUSLY HARD TO FIND!!!! BUT THIS LP IS 1ST PRESSED IN MEGA RARE STEREO INSTEAD!!!! AND WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED IN THE UK BACK IN 1964, NEARLY EVERY 1ST PRESSING WAS MADE IN COMMON MONO - WITH VIRTUALLY NONE IN MEGA RARE STEREO AT ALL!!!! AND DEMAND FOR STEREOs WAS SO ABSOLUTELY TINY, THAT MOST SHOPS DIDNT EVEN STOCK STEREOs AS STANDARD IN 1964 - AND STEREO 1ST PRESSINGS WERE ONLY AVAILABLE BY 'SPECIAL ORDER' ONLY!!!! AND SO (UNLIKE THE BEATLES 'YELLOW SUBMARINE' ODEON EXPORTS) THIS ULTRA RARE UK 'ODEON EXPORT' 1ST PRESSING IN STEREO - ACTUALLY DOES HAVE THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS 1G/1G MOTHER & STAMPER CODINGS (THE 'EARLIEST POSSIBLE'!) - AS VIRTUALLY NO COPIES AT ALL WERE EVER SOLD IN STEREO IN THE UK!!!! AS A RESULT, FINDING A 1ST PRESSING OF THIS INCREDIBLE LP IN MEGA RARE STEREO IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE!!!! AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT AT ALL - THAT THIS IS THE RAREST 'UK ODEON EXPORT' 1ST PRESSING EVER MADE - AND ALMOST NEVER SEEN (I HAVE ONLY EVER SEEN 2 OF THESE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD EVER - 1 OF WHICH I AM KEEPING)!!!!
NOT ONLY THAT BUT THIS LP IS IN BRILLIANT CONDITION AND CLEARLY HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!! JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1964 UK 'ODEON EXPORT' STEREO 1ST PRESSING ON THE 1ST PRESS EXPORT 'ODEON' LABEL, 1ST PRESS 1/1 MATRIX ENDINGS, 1ST PRESS 'EMITEX' INNER SLEEVE (UK ODEON EXPORTS NEVER USED HMV INNERS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS!), AND 1ST PRESS 'GARROD & LOFTHOUSE' FLIPBACK LAMINATED 'EXPORT STICKERED' STEREO COVER!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!!! This is the ORIGINAL UK Odeon EXPORT 1st Pressing from 1964 and is in BRILLIANT condition!!!! The record is pressed on THICK quality vinyl. The Cat. No is PCSD 1570 on the ORIGINAL 1st Press 'Odeon' EXPORT label (see picture) and is a much MUCH rarer UK STEREO 1st Pressing!!!! And PLEASE NOTE the Cat Number on the labels - which like The Beatles 'Yellow Submarine' Odeon Export - uses an extra 'P' in the Cat number denoting an Export!!!!
The record labels are in BRILLIANT condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing, and only a VERY few light spindle marks!!!! IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THIS RECORD HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!! The labels are also slightly 'wrinkled' in places - which perhaps suggests slightly damp storage at some point in the past (though I most stress there is NO mould ANYWHERE on this LP!)!!!! The vinyl is in BRILLIANT condition!!!! Most of these 60s LPs had been to a lot of wild parties and are usually found totally worn out, and almost unplayable. This one is NOT and has NO scratches, only 2 or 3 MEGA light hairlines, only 1 light scuffline, and only a VERY few of the lightest paper scuffs only visible under light!!!! THE RECORD STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK AND SHINES LIKE NEW!!!! It is also great to find that the record plays as STUNNINGLY as the visual!!!! It plays with NO pops, NO jumps, NO sticks, barely ANY crackle AT ALL, and only some slight background sound on the run on grooves & gaps - NOT in the music AT ALL!!!! The sound quality is simply SUPERB with NO distortion and NO groovewear either!!!! The record must grade Very Good++ if not better!!!! Believe me this record is NOT overgraded in ANY way!!!! I use STRICT RC grading standards - it is not in my interest not to!!!! Brillant!!!! The record also comes in its ORIGINAL 1st Press Emitex inner sleeve which is in SUPERB condition!!!! The 1st Press 'Garrod & Lofthouse' Flipback Laminated 'Gold Stickered' STEREO Cover is in BRILLIANT condition!!!! It has NO edge wear, NO spinal wear, slight corner wear (NOT through the colour!), only a few VERY light creases (cover is VERY flat looking!), and NO writing!!!! The opening edge is beautifully straight with barely ANY feathering!!!! Even the unlaminated back of the cover is in BRILLIANT condition with NO grubbyness, NO yellowing, NO rubbing, and NO writing!!!! The cover must grade Very Good++ if not better!!!! It also worth noting - just how unprepared EMI were for Exports in this period - for both 'Gold Foil' Odeon Export stickers are clearly 'hand stuck' - with the one on the front being misaligned to the HMV Logo & the one on the back being FAR too big for the logo on the reverse - as is actually folded over the opening edge (which has naturally caused some wear to the sticker there!)!!!! Other than that - the stickers are in pretty nice condition (and have never been 'peeled'!) - with only some typical light rubbing!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE (ESPECIALLY LIKE THIS!) - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY!!!!
HAVE A LOOK AT MY PICTURES - I DO MY BEST TO SHOW THE RECORD FROM ALL ANGLES AND MAKE THE PICTURES AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE - THERE IS NOTHING TO HIDE!!!!
