Description

SWINGING BLUE JEANS A Swingin' 1964 UK STEREO 1st

The Swinging Blue Jeans, A' Swingin'.

Original 1964 UK pressed EMI HMV Records stereo LP, CSD 1570.

Orange black label with red and silver print.

Very earliest pressing with -1/-1 matrix suffixes and G 1 / G 1 mothers/stampers!

Vinyl in visually VG condition. Some light but not excessive spindle wear. Surfaces still have a high gloss, although display a few light hairline scuffs, some of which are fairly large and more immediately visible. There are no deep scratches or digs however.

Playback is actually very much cleaner than surfaces indicate and grades EX. The surfaces are underlyingly quiet and silent and free of background crackle. The early stereo pressing is really vibrant and punchy and without distortion. Even the silent bands between tracks are 90% free of any noise at all. The first side displays just a couple of very soft and isolated ticks, plus a few soft ticks which occur ONLY at the silent band before the last track. Side two is similar, but with just three or four more isolated and very soft single ticks. I have made no attempt to clean the LP, and notice that it does have some handling residue, so although the playback is already extremely clean there is still room for further improvement.

Labels are clean and undulled and without damage or inscriptions.

Period poly-lined paper inner sleeve is in sound condition with just a little creasing. No seam splits, tears, marks, browning or inscriptions.

External sleeve is fairly sound, but has one major fault. For some reason the right hand side has been cut down by just a fraction. Why this has been done is anyone's guess. The cut is slightly on the ragged side, although not glaringly so, and aside from an incursion in to the front text is not a nasty distraction. Else sleeve is well preserved and would grade EX. Front and rear panels are clean and unmarked with just a tad of age and handling toning to rear. Visible external backflaps are in good order. There is no wear or damage to edges and spine is in superb shape. Tips are just very gently rubbed.

A Note On Grading:

Note that audio grading is subjective and based on sensitivity of equipment used for playback. In this instance playback has been tested on a vintage Technics Quartz Direct Drive SL1700 MKII turntable with Shure cartridge, Technics SU-C 03 amp and Technics SB-F2 Linear Phase speakers.

Also note that I generally do not clean vinyl unless so noted. Most vinyl will show improved playback quality with your preferred cleaning method, but I leave this to the prospective buyer, as controversy still surrounds the ideal method of cleaning vinyl.
