SXL 2005 DVORAK New World KUBELIK Vienna Philharmonic UK DECCA STEREO WBG 1st

Dvorak, Symphony No.5 in E minor, Op.95 "From The New World".

Rafael Kubelik and The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

UK pressed Decca stereo LP, SXL 2005.

Earliest wide band grooved pressing with "Original Recording..." wording to perimeter at 12 o'clock. 3E/4E matrix suffixes and non-blueback sleeve with laminated front panel and visible laminated backflaps to top and bottom of matt rear panel which features black print on white background.

Vinyl is visually in strong EX condition. Close inspection reveals barely any spider trail marks around the spindle areas. At cursory glance the playing surfaces appear a glossy near mint and free of any marks. Close inspection with a magnifying glass reveals only a very few very fine superficial hairlines indicative of sleeve removal marks rather than poor handling.

Playback is on the whole bright and clean and the LP is not groove damaged or distorted. The surfaces are underlyingly quiet. However, there are some instances of tickiness. These are low level and there are no loud clicks or ticks. I noticed just one soft isolated tick and 2 or 3 again very soft consecutive, possible dust debris ticks. The area affected in total is generally very small.

The LP still provides a very comfortable listening experience, and although one is occasionally aware of background noise it is neither loud enough nor prolonged enough to be a serious deterrent to listening enjoyment.

Labels are clean and undefaced and still have a high lustre.

Original poly-lined FFSS inner sleeve is in excellent condition.

External sleeve VG+ with no structural damage. The grading is held back only due to marginal ringwear impression to laminated front panel and a little overall age/handling/ringwear grubbiness to predominantly white and matt rear panel.
