Description
This is another sale from a my collection of classical records, which includes early stereo rarities on Decca, Columbia, HMV and RCA.
Recording First Published 1958 UK stereo pressing on Decca records of SXL 2026 of Mendelssohn Concerto for Violin in E Minor, op. 64 and Bruch “Scottish Fantasia” op. 46 played by Campoli and London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sir Adrian Boult.
This is a Decca wide band 1st label, grooved with "Original Recording By" at 10 O' clock The matrix numbers engraved on the run-out are: ZAL-4055-4E & ZAL-4056-1E. Side 1 has ZT and 1 U stamped in the run out. Side 2 has C B and 1 5 stamped. The outer sleeve is a scalloped flip back sleeve, laminated on the front. The sleeve notes are dated 1959. The inner sleeve is period Decca ffss printed paper with polythene liner.
Grading
Would visually grade as VG+, few light marks/scratches on both sides. It plays well on my Linn Sondek, no skips, jumps or repeated clicks, some crackle in places and one pop on each side. Sleeve is in excellent condition, a little creasing only. There is what looks like a water mark on top edge (see photo) though not sure it is. There is not evidence of it on the rear sleeve so I suspect it is just ageing.
Note that record will be posted in a cardboard record mailer. Sleeve will be in a plastic sleeve, separate from the record and inner sleeve. Record and inner sleeve will be in a card sleeve.
