SXL 2026 wb+g Ed.1 – Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto/Bruch: Scottish Fantasia – CAMPOLI
1958 Decca stereo recording on wide-band grooved label Ed.1, catalogue number SXL 2026. Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Bruch’s Scottish Fantasia played by Campoli with Sir Adrian Boult conducting The London Philharmonic Orchestra. Matrix Nos. are ZAL-4055-1E & ZAL-4056-1E.
Disc is clean and shiny. Both sides have very light surface marks so we have listened VERY carefully. Side 1 (Mendelssohn) has 4 noticeable ticks and 1 momentary “squeak” plus about 25/30 VERY faint random ticks. Side 2 has 3 noticeable ticks and 5/6 VERY faint ticks. The overall sound quality is superb with no background noise and the minor defects are not intrusive. Professional cleaning is recommended. Sleeve is intact and clean with light wear and some discolouration.
