SXL 2029 wb+g Ed.1 – CAMPOLI / ARGENTA – TCHAIKOVSKY: VIOLIN CONCERTO
1958 Decca stereo recording on wide-band grooved label Edition 1, catalogue number SXL 2029. Campoli playing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major, Op.35, with Ataulfo Argenta conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
Disc has several light surface marks but these are mainly inaudible. Side 1 has occasional faint background crackle and occasional light ticks. Side 2 has about 8 / 10 noticeable random ticks and 1 very brief crackle. Not a perfect copy but still hugely enjoyable. Flimsy card sleeve has edge creasing / record impress and grubby marks on rear
