RARE Original UK Decca first stereo box set issue of SXL 2087-90
Mozart: Marriage of Figaro in overall EX+ condition, plays really superbly with no major defects at all.
Mozart The Marriage of Figaro - the famous Decca set, and one of Decca's first ever stereo recordings.
Played by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Erich Kleiber (recorded 1955)
Sung by Cesare Siepi, Lisa della Casa, Hilde Gueden, Susanne Danco, Fernando Corena,
Alfred Poell, Murray Dickie etc.
Original issue English Decca pressing 1959, three earliest issue " pancake" pressings (160g+ weight) and
one grooved pressings (140g weight) " ORIGINAL RECORDING" text on ALL labels - see label photos.
Vinyl is EX+, with only a few very light surface sleeve removal scuffs. Glossy and unwarped.
Fully auditioned all eight sides: stunningly clear, with minimal, if any low surface noise levels,
no distortion even on highest soprano notes or at end of sides, and in general hardly
any of the low level background " pops" or " clicks" which are usually found on LPs of this vintage.
Run-ins & run-outs are near silent.
Superb stereo reproduction from the """ golden age"
All 4 discs play with NO serious problems. NO repeats NO jumps & NO repetitive tics or clicks!

Original 25g heavyweight paper poly-lined " Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound" inner sleeves, all EX
There are the earliest DARK BLUE FFSS inners. Late ones were a lighter shade of blue.
First issue box, condition is easily EX, all intact and structurally sound, but a little wear on the edges of the front
and some tape on the spine.
Leaflet is VG++, all intact, no tears, just slight non-serious creasing.
Date 1/59 printed at bottom right of back. NB. no libretto was issued with this set; it had to be purchased separately.
However this set DOES HAVE the libretto included. I would grade it as VG (see photos) with some wear at front bottom left & rear bottom right but neither over any of the printing.
It is complete and is rarely found included with this set.
NB - whole set weighs 1150g, and will have to be sent signed-for/tracked and insured.
