Description
This is the 1960 first pressing/edition of SXL 2237. To my ears, the Symphony in 3 Movements is particularly persuasive and engaging in this performance.
The Matrices:
Side 1: ZAL- 483-1E Side 2: ZAL- 484-2E
When I feel it is necessary, I clean records with a Loricraft Professional Mk3, using alcohol free. l'Art du Son' professional cleaning fluid.
I use the Record Collectors' Guide to Grading and have listened to both sides from start to finish.
Vinyl: Visual grading
A couple of small, non sounding hairlines on each side, so visually, EX.
Vinyl: Aural grading
Side 1: Excellent, colourful, spacious sound and extremely quiet playing surfaces with about 4/5, very quiet, isolated ticks on the side as a whole so, aurally, M- for some, EX++ for others!
Side 2: As above for the sound quality - very atmospheric, dynamic and colourful and a silent playing surface from start to finish - well, almost: there are three/four, isolated, barely audible, tiny ticks on side 2 in total. Aurally, M- for many.
Sleeve
The sleeve has a small 8mm tear/split ( see photos) on the spine, but the laminate to the front is otherwise excellent and the sleeve is flat, with no other significant wear to the corners and edges. One of the the scalloped flip overs shows signs of tape removal and a stick on label with numerals. The cover has probably darkened a little with age too, so VG and low BIN price.
The record will be shipped in an archive quality inner liner and includes the original Decca inner liner.
