Description
First edition pressing on the Decca label
Unfortunately this vinyl LP has not been well looked after. However, I have decided to list it as this is such a sought after LP, at the low starting price of £4.99 with no reserve.
Overall I would conservatively grade the vinyl as 'good+'.
There is no distortion in the sound. The sound quality is still very nice, with no audible groove damage, even during loud passages near the spindle.
However, the vinyl has a lot of light marks. It has 'drop-ins' causing scattered ticks. Also, during the first movement there are three small but quite deep scratches. Each of these 3 scratches causes 5-10 loud ticks. The scratches are at a slight angle to the groove, which made me worry they might cause the LP to jump. However, they didn't jump when play-tested on my current system (Audio Technica AT95E tracking at 2 grams on a Technics SL 1210).
The sleeve is in 'very good+' condition. Overall it is in nice condition for its age, the spine is clean and straight with no feathering and laminate damage is minimal. However, there is a little wear on the top and bottom edge, and some small patches of discolouration. See photographs.
An original Decca 'FFSS' inner sleeve is included which is in nice condition.
