Description
This recording dates from 1963 and is on the first Decca label: wideband with groove (ED1), made in England. Clifford Curzon plays Dvorak's Piano Quintet in A (Op. 81) and Schubert's Quartettsatz in C minor (D.703) accompanied by the Vienna Philharmonic Quartet featuring Willi Boskovsky, Otto Strasser, Rudolf Streng and Robert Scheiwein.
The matrix numbers on the run-outs are ZAL-5837-1E and ZAL-5388-1E
The inner sleeve is period Decca FFSS printed poly-lined paper.
The outer sleeve is laminated at the front and flip-back top and bottom on the rear.
The LP will be supplied with a protective PVC sleeve and packed in a commercial Defenda LP mailer made of corrugated cardboard.
Condition of Disc The disc is glossy, with negligible signs of spindle wear around the centre hole. I have listened to extracts and after wiping with a damp cloth, it plays beautifully. I have conservatively graded it as 'Excellent ' (Record Collector grading system).
Condition of Sleeve The sleeve is free of writing, tears and sticky labels. It shows some lifting of the laminate near the spine edge and shelf/handling wear. Along the front opening edge and spine edge there is some darkening, possibly from exposure to light. Graded 'Good'.
