VINYL Overall sound on this stunning 1958 wideband stereo first edition is fantastic ...loud , warm and largely in EX/NM condition in looks and audio. In detail ....record one has light wispy marks across both sides , look like sleeve removal marks . Both sides play great with just a little backgrond noise . Record two has a bit of distortion at the start of side two ...no marks but this is a common pressing problem with this first edition . The other side has a couple of light scratches that give the odd pop but nothing serious ...there is a bit of sound distortion towards the end but further cleaning may eliminate this . Records 3 and 4 appear to have been lightly played and offer no visible faults and near perfect playback ....All in all a fine example oF a record almost 60 years old . My overall grading based on looks and audio would be EX+ / NM
THE BOX ..Not in great shape I'm afraid , it has been stored under a lot of weight at one time , it is crushed / split / dirty and a bit sorry for itself ... It is however the correct first edition box with gold blocked letters on the spine with red and black print on the front cover / pale cream card stock ...Grades GOOD
INNERS/INSERT original Decca FFSS poly lined Stereo inners in decent shape ...some discolouration but fully intact and functional. The 4 page Insert Libretto issued with this box is in VG plus condition , slight discolouration and handling wear . Also included in the sale is a 1961 Columbia records booklet ( 70 pages ) / libretto for Don Giovanni in VG + condition , this was available for sale at 5/6 and was intended as a general libretto / guide to the opera and not tied to any release ....rare item that will add to your enjoyment of Don giovanni ...including an introduction and libretto in Italian and English.
