Description
Lovely copy of this first complete issue UK pressing 10 LP box-set, originally published in 1970. Vinyls all look NM, in fact some seem unplayed, whilst box is EX - some surface wear on rear.
UK Decca Stereo LPs SXLA 6452-61, recorded in the Victoria Hall in Geneva between 1959 and 1969 by Kenneth Wilkinson and Roy Wallace (amongst others), and issued as a complete in 1970 in stereo. NB "The Hammerklavier" Op.106 was never recorded by Backhaus in stereo and so is a transfer of the 1952 mono recording.

Narrow band groove label.
All are 140-155 g vinyls I think (heavy for this period of Decca vinyl), matrix codes all end in either W or Y
Vinyls all appear NM, flat, excellent gloss, hardly any traces of use, just the lightest handling "whisps" and sleeve removal scuffs visible under bright light. Labels NM only one or two few spindle trails visible
Spot play tested on some sides NM, with superb atmospheric Decca early stereo recording, weighty piano tone with great instrumental presence, very good quiet surfaces with just very occasional minimal background ticks from dust particles; the surfaces are slightly "cloudy" and dusty from long storage so cleaning may well improve further (the LPs have not been cleaned at all, as they sound so good as they are). No wear or distortion.
Condition of box is EX (all intact, crisp and clean laminate, some rubbing wear to back surface - see photos)

Blue rimmed poly-lined inner sleeves NM (dated 8-78 in bottom corners)
PLEASE NOTE - you are bidding on original 1970s vinyl - this will not have completely silent surfaces, even when in unplayed condition - but the sound and recording quality is generally excellent.
