THIS WAS PRODUCED BY DAVID GILMOUR AND ROGER WATERS. IT HAS THE EARLIEST ERNEST DAY COVER (LATER ISSUES WERE GARROD&LOFTHOUSE).

VERY RARE UK  LP, with a FANTASCTIC laminated  Ernest J. Day & Co.Ltd. gatefold sleeve. A great item with with also the original Harvest inner sleeve still present!!!! 

The Madcap Laughs is an album by British singer/songwriter Syd Barrett, released on 3 January 1970. It was his first solo album after being replaced in the band Pink Floyd by his old school friend David Gilmour.

The album was recorded in two sessions, both at Abbey Road Studios: a few tentative sessions took place between May and June 1968 (produced by Peter Jenner), while the bulk of the album was recorded between April and July 1969. The record was produced first by Malcolm Jones, a young EMI executive, and then by David Gilmour and Roger Waters.  In his book The Making of the Madcap Laughs, Jones states that "when Dave came to me and said that Syd wanted him and Roger to do the remaining parts of the album, I acquiesced."

For the cover, Barrett painted the floor of his bedroom orange and purple. The nude woman appearing on the backside of the record sleeve was an acquaintance of his known as "Iggy the Eskimo". Photographer Mick Rock says, "When I arrived for 'The Madcap Laughs' photo session, Syd was still in his underpants .. His lady friend of two weeks, 'Iggy the Eskimo', was naked in the kitchen ..". In October 2010 she was interviewed, revealing her name is Evelyn and she is of an Anglo-Pakistani background.

On offer here is a very rare LP by the SYD BARRETT. A UK  original with a fantastic photo cover in EX condition.  

     The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This is an absolutely gorgeous super heavy slab of early quality HARVEST vinyl which is in great  condition with just a few hairlines!! This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality heavy/prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! This is hardly offered these days, leave alone in this stunning condition!!

 Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. NO clicks or crackle, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .The audio is fantastic. Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

Vinyl: EX.  A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> fantastic audio, a joy to listen to!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation.  There are just a few minute hairlines, no marks and looks absolutely great with hardly any spindle marks.  Fantastic songcraft!! I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection.   Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.

Sleeve:  EX.  A unique sleeve, very rare and hardly ever comes up for sale. Only miniscule underlaminate mini creases near the spine. Just one mark near the bottom right corner on the inner sleeve. A fantastic sleeve rarely seen like this and a true collector's item that will only appreciate in value. remember, Barrett albums are far rarer than any FLOYD album at all!!! The spine is 100% and so are the edges. NO writing, NO splits. 

Labels: NM. There is still some vinyl debris on the spindle indicating only very few plays!! (see pics)
