FRANCE FIRST PRESSING [1973] VINYL LP IN UK LAMINATED E.J.DAY GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH ORIGINAL WHITE INNER.

Catalog Number: SHVL (1E 062 0 04261) with 'STEREO - Ce disque peut être utilisé avec un lecteur MONO' label text below Syd's name, pressed by Pathé Marconi with no EMI references, as first issued in UK printed front laminated gatefold picture sleeve. There was no French printed sleeve for the first isue of this album in France. Text around the top edge of the label starts at 12 o'clock and says: All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance broadcasting and copying of this record prohibited. Little needs to be said about the missing-in-action genius that was the late-Syd Barrett. This is his first solo album and has a quirky, spaced-out charm, aided by his former Floyd mates. What does need to be said is how superb this French first pressing plays and sounds, we have compared it to the UK first pressing, and there is very little difference to be honest - we concluded that the French pressing must have been mastered from very early generation master tapes from UK EMI, at Pathe Marconi in France, who were known for their excellent mastering and pressing skills. This pressing is vastly superior to the later UK re-presses and re-issues, tighter, warmer, earthier sounding. If you can't afford a genuine UK first pressing then this should suffice as a great listening copy until you can.

SLEEVE: EXCELLENT MINUS, WITH JUST LIGHT SHELF, SPINE AND EDGE WEAR. VERY MINOR CORNER AND RING WEAR. OVERALL A SPLENDID SLEEVE FOR ITS AGE.

DISC: EXCELLENT. CLEAN VINYL WITH NO MARKS OR SCRATCHES, NO NOTICEABLE SPINDLE WEAR. DISC PLAYS AND SOUNDS SUPERB - A REALLY ENJOYABLE LISTENING EXPERIENCE WITH QUIET SIDES AND NO SKIPS OR JUMPS.
