Description
- 12 inch, stereo, LP. 33 1/3 rpm
- This was issued in 1964 on the 'Columbia' label
- The recording features the Symphonia Domestica, Op 53, by Richard Strauss
- Recorded by The Cleveland Orchestra conducted by George Szell and issued for the Richard Strauss centenary (1864-1964)
- The front sleeve features the details of the work surmounting a photograph of the composer with 'Richard Strauss Centenary 1864 - 1964' beneath.
- The rear sleeve full notes on the work by Klaus George Roy taken from the Cleveland Orchestra programmes
- This is the first issue of this recording with the Columbia 'half circle', red label.
- Paper inner sleeve, with plastic lining, with a list of EMI classical recording artists
- Catalogue number SAX 2545 (Epic recording)
- Matrix marks:- Side 1: YAX 1128 - 2E and XXSM 77414 1A (struck through)
- Side 2: YAX 1129 - 2E and XXSM 77415 1A (struck through)
Condition
- The record is in excellent condition with no signs of warping and no apparent marks or scratches (We have not been able to play the LP so we cannot attest to playback quality).
- The outer sleeve is intact and clean with the spine and edges intact and with only a few slight creases, some slight ringwear and a little bit of wear at the opening (see photos).
- The inner sleeve has a few creases and slight yellowing at the edges but is otherwise clean and fully intact
- I would grade this record as 'Excellent' as per Record Collector's grading guide (see http://recordcollectormag.com/advertise/listings-help)
