Description

This truly beautiful and quite rare 2 10" LP box set [ED1] from Cetra (1001, Italian pressing, green/silver label, mono, booklet included,  features conductor Victor de Sabata's famous wartime presentation of Mozart's Requiem K. 626, recorded at the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli alle Terme in Rome on 5 December 1941 with an orchestra of 160 musicians and 300 choristers, as well as a distinguished line-up of soloists.

Joining the Orchestre e Cori della Radiotelevisione Italiana, under the baton of Maestro Sabata, were the following soloists:

Pia Tassinari, soprano

Ebe Stignani, mezzo-soprano

Ferruccio Tagliavini, tenor

Italo Tajo, bass
