Condition Of Cover: VG+

Condition Of Record: plays NM but has light storage pattern marks on playing surface from plastic inner not affecting play at all on my system. NM deep groove blue labels w a couple very light spindle trails.

Comments: This is an incredibly rare collection of Cuban music straight from Havana.No date but judging from the sound of some of the tracks I would guess mid 60's.

Mirtha Y Raul have 2 tracks,They have great male/female harmonies and a swinging mid 60's beat! Rosas De Algodon has a feel similiar to the Byrds' So You Want To Be A Rock n Roll Star though I don't know what they are actually singing about, But with horns and more percussion it is a great 60's Beat track.Even cooler in my opinion is their second track Que Tu Me Quieres Voy A Gritar,full on psychedelia like a more garage Latin early Jefferson Airplane.This track is truly incredible with Mirtha repeating the vocal lines of Raul Gomez more intensely in a style reminiscent of Grace Slick! Maybe that is why there is a picture of flowers on the back cover,Cuban flower power? Also is the cool 60's couple on the front Mirtha Y Raul?.

This lp also boasts 2 instrumental tracks from ORQUESTRA CUBANA DE MUSICA MODERNA .The first El Name Con Bacalao is a hot Latin jazz workoutwith some high flying trumpet work.Their second track La Fria is a fantastic funk soul number with sinister sounding bass and bongo breaks dj's would kill for and some wild harpsichord fills at the end.Library,breakbeat and funk collectors will love this track.If you are a serious collector and contact me in time arrangements can be made for me to play a bit over the phone.

Orquestra Los Van Van kicks off the lp with the curious but great Latin Psyche Beat track Yuya Martinez.They also have a second beat track La Bola De Humo,with a real freak break from ensemble with violins,flute and of course percussion and driving rock style vocals,and a real quirky ending

Conjunto Palmas Y Canas has 2 tracks,Por Mi Cuba Nueva is folkish but with grinding percussion and a far out string lead instrument that is non electric and may be a guitar,This fast handed player is also heard on their second track Esta Es La Musica Cubana

Orquestra Aragon has 2 great Latin tracks with vocals,percussion,piano and flutes.Guajira Para Ti & Busca Los Lentes (cool break)

Finally there are 2 great Latin jazz vocals by Pacho Alonso Y Sus Pachocos Divertido Simale(verges on Beat but with wickedly complex percussion) and Simale A Lo Bonne
