Description

Up for bid is a rare mono LP, "Contours," by Sam Rivers, featuring Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Joe Chambers. See pictures for song list. This was released by Blue Note Records (BLP 4206) in 1965. Here are some specifics about this LP:

RARE 1965 US BLUE NOTE MONO PRESSING

CONTOURS

12" black vinyl with etched A-B matrix endings, "VAN GELDER" is stamped on either side in the dead wax, lightly grooved blue and white paper labels with the 'New York USA' address, and a 1939-1966 27 Years Blue Note 43 West 61st St inner sleeve within a heavy gauge back-pasted picture sleeve, STILL IN THE ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP!

LP is VG++, with several faint scuffs on either side. LP plays with some surface noise (some intermittent crackle and tics). LP is very clean and retains a nice gloss. Interior labels are very clean. The address on the back of the jacket reads 43 West 61st St., New York 23. This LP still sounds great - this is a really nice copy of this original LP! Jacket is VG++, with no seam splits, still in the original shrink wrap. There is light wear on the exposed top and bottom front corners, as well as on the exposed mouth of the jacket. There is light ring wear on the front and back of the jacket. The front coloring is still bright, and the front and back retain a nice gloss. Throughout the month of December I will be listing more extremely rare, hard to find titles in very nice shape - from the estate of a serious collector. Don't miss out of this rare gem!
