Description

Why all the fuss over a genuine 1st? Ok, so all the early copies look very similar. But let me assure you that a genuine 1st will feel and sound quite different to a copy from just 6 months after 1st release. Matrix A1/B1 - please note this is correct for 1st press, but doesn't mean a whole lot. This matrix was used for a good couple of years! What is more telling is the weight of the vinyl - very nice solid pressing more akin to sixties stock than seventies. Also note that publishing on side 2 is referred to as 'Copyright Control' - this what you find on the earliest copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original front laminated cover with solid card. This is how 1st issues were constructed... later copies are flimsy. We also have an original CBS advertising inner. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super shape and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. If you are a big Santana fan believe me when I say - you need to hear Santana on a clean early copy. Literally - there is no going back. And this example will get you pretty damn close on to those early masters. Intros and inbetweens are beautifully quiet and the audio comes across with super clarity. No kidding - this is an absolutely cracking copy. Bags of energy and amazing detail. The percussion is coming at you BIG STYLE! This badboy plays plays clean and accurate - Lovin' it. The only interference I could spot was a few crackles in that uber fussy intro to TREAT, and again briefly at the supper fussy end [pretty much unavoidable on all copies]..The fussy intro to SACRIFICE is pretty much perfect. Over a total Banger!!!
Cover (Vg+) The front looks amazing that lamination is paying dividends. Relatively unaged and that front is like a mirror. Flat as a pancake with barely a single crease. A bit of a let down on the rear stopping it grading higher. There is some surface damage over on the left side - I've blended it in as best I can. Still very presentable on the rear. Minimal edge wear and sharp openings. A couple of minor stress creases on the spine - otherwise superb. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No spits.
