Unknowns who took Woodstock by storm ----literally, since the band played during a downpour -----Santana could have stopped recording after its third album and its legacy would still be secure. Known for his trademark piercing, stinging guitar solos, Carlos Santana in the last 50 years has released over 50 (studio & Live) albums but most agree that he has never equaled the power and sweep of those first three albums.
It all starts here....with their self-titled debut release from 1969 ....all the ingredients were in place.....Blues, Rock and Latin flavored rhythms ....punctuated by congas, keyboards and bass...and all held together by that unique creative sound of Santana's distinctive guitar. Beautifully produced by Brent Dangerfield and Santana, the recording was a simple affair and essentially, was the band's live act at the time recorded in the studio.
On offer....the highly acclaimed Sundazed (LP 5263) 150g remastered pressing. Purchased myself when it was newly released in 2008.
