Description
The Savoy Plaza Band, a Les Norman unit, plays two hot tunes, "If I Had A Talking Picture of You" and "Sunny Side Up," on Worldecho A 1036. The former has an 8-bar trumpet solo by Sylvester Ahola. The latter has a clarinet solo. Cavan O'Connor sings.
Recorded in London on November 22, 1929.
As is typical of these coated cardboard discs, there is crazing on the surfaces. In general the record is in VV+ condition, but there is a rough start on each side. A few digs at the beginning of the "Picture" side cause loud ticks for about the first ten seconds. At the beginning of the "Sunny" side, some of the coating is missing. It looks awful and sounds very noisy for about ten revolutions, then decreases to a few quiet ticks and disappears. Both sides play through on my equipment. Despite the flaws, there is still music to be enjoyed.
