Schubert / Bridge: Sonatas (1x LP 180g)

Few people will be able to resist the big climax when bowed with the intensity Rostropovich brings to it (the Bridge) here ... It is supremely beautiful playing from both cellist and pianist (in the Schubert), with never a dead note in even the most incidental bit of figuration, and I suppose we really ought to be grateful that such a humble (albeit charming) little work comes in for so much love. The engineering is superb: the sound is glorious, and so true to life that if you shut your eyes you can imagine the players in your own room.— Gramophone Nur wenige Menschen werden dem großen Höhepunkt widerstehen können, der Intensität, die Rostropovich der Sonate von F. Es ist ein überaus schönes Spiel von Cellist und Pianist (in der “Arpeggione-Sonate”), mit nie einem toten Ton, auch nicht in der zufälligsten Figuration, und ich denke, wir sollten wirklich dankbar sein, dass ein so bescheidenes (wenn auch charmantes) kleines Werk mit so viel Liebe gespielt wird. Die Technik ist hervorragend: Der Klang ist herrlich und so lebensecht, dass man sich die Spieler in seinem Zimmer vorstellen kann, wenn man die Augen schließt.— Gramophone
