Schubert Cello Sonata Maurice Gendron UK Decca LXT 2857
Maurice Gendron with Jean Francaix performs Schubert’s “Sonata in A for Cello”, and Schumann’s “Fantasiestucke” and “Drei Romanzen”. An English mono pressing (no stereo) on the Decca Label (LXT 2857), the labels are orange with gold lettering and this is a “pancake” pressing. The record has a few minor scuffs and marks on the first track of side two. These do not appear to sound, however a barely visible pressing fault causes some crackle at the end of the track for 10 – 15 revolutions. Otherwise it plays and sounds very well (superb recording) with some surface noise. The cover is a little grubby with a ring.
